“..Dance Under the moon every night.”

“Thank God men cannot fly, and lay waste the sky as well as the earth.”

~ Henry David Thoreau 1817-1862

When I sit quiet on the earth I can begin to feel the struggle. It sends grief through my body and that is all I need to know that we need to change what we are doing. “We” meaning me and my family. I cannot nor do I want to tell anyone else what they should be doing. I just want to change what we do here on this little piece of earth, with a hope that somehow that can and will make a difference.

When we heal the earth, we heal ourselves.  ~David Orr

Krisha at Recycling Mama challenged herself to list 3 things that she would like to do, to slow down the damage being done to the Earth at her expense and I thought this would be a great thing for us to do together as a family.

Here are the 3 things we would like to do in 2012, to decrease the damage we are doing to this beautiful earth.

1. Stop buying plastic bottled water

2. Harvesting Rain water..CAN’T WAIT!

3. Hang our clothes on the line

These things are small but they are something.

“Niyah, can you think of anything we could do this year to show the earth how much we love and appreciate her?”  -Me

We should dance under the moon every night” ~ Niyah

“That is the best idea so far” ~ Me

This hit straight to the heart for me. In that moment her heart served as a great reminder to me that…. It’s not all about the act, it’s also about the heart.

Let the earth know you love her

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.  ~Native American Proverb
